The first rounds are due to take place in Sanya, China on 17th-20th August with the final happening 23rd-24th August.

There’s a noticeable absence in the form of Derek Poundstone who qualified earlier this year in Melbourne. It’s a shame he can’t make it – here’s hoping he hasn’t left the strongman game for good.

First reserve is British strongman Lloyd Renals with Robert Cyrwus rumoured as number two.

Keep checking back for the latest updates as and when we receive them.
